About Your Teacher

Jeremy West began his journey with Mindfulness 15 years ago, prompted by a profound personal crisis. After losing his job on the same day he and his wife at the time planned to put an offer on his first house while their first child was a baby, he fell into deep depression. Mindfulness became a lifeline, helping him overcome ruminations about the past and anxieties about the future, enabling him to stay grounded in the present moment, which he likens to being in the eye of a storm.

With a Bachelor of Psychology (Hons), certification as a Results Coach, and a certification as a hypnosis practitioner, Jeremy has continued to explore mindfulness through the lenses of Psychology and Secular Buddhism. His dedication was tested this year after a severe accident left him hospitalized for over a month and then basically homeless. Despite these challenges, Mindfulness helped him maintain high spirits and focus on the present moment.

In his workshops, Jeremy blends information with experiential learning. Participants are introduced to the origins and benefits of mindfulness and engage in various practice exercises. The sessions are interactive, encouraging participants to share their experiences in small groups and with the full group to foster mutual learning.

Jeremy’s primary goal is for participants to understand that, regardless of how busy their minds are, they can practice mindfulness in both meditation and daily life. Emphasizing that attention is a muscle that can be trained, he guides participants to gradually increase their mindfulness practice. He aims for participants to grasp that while mindfulness doesn’t eliminate all suffering, it eliminates the additional suffering caused by resisting reality.

Adding a unique twist, Jeremy integrates improv theatre games into his workshops. Drawing from his extensive experience as a theatre improviser, these games not only add a fun element but also demonstrate how play can enhance mindfulness and presence.

Jeremy is passionate about spreading the gift of mindfulness and is committed to helping others discover its transformative power, when they are ready. Are you ready?
