‘Intelligent Companions’ paintings by Antoinette Edmunds

Antoinette Edmunds’  whimsical exhibition echoes the affection and playfulness of children’s book illustrations with a touch of adult humour, but with a serious intention. 

Edmunds is especially interested in animal behaviour and is fascinated by how dogs and pigs navigate their world quite differently from humans. They excel at integrating perception, memory and instinct. 

Edmunds wants her art to reveal a quiet kindness towards humanity and animals, and to engage people without confronting them.

Antoinette Edmunds is a mid-career artist who graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, followed by a residency in a marble quarry in Italy. She has had a successful career in public art. Recently her exhibition ‘Sensory’ was at the Tweed Regional Gallery. An exhibition about the symbiosis between animals and humans.
