Details

Emily Ebbs was the recipient of the 2022 Tweed Regional Gallery — National Art School Masters of Fine Art (Painting) Residency Award. She completed a residency in the Gallery’s on-site studio – the Nancy Fairfax Artist in Residence Studio and this solo exhibition, titled Slow, Motions is the outcome of that residency.

Slow, Motions is evocative of mindfulness, reflection and contemplation. Her monochromatic works are created by applying delicate washes of acrylic paint and scented oils to muslin and linen. Allowing each layer to dry, she returns the next day to add another wash, building up the colour slowly and thoughtfully, one layer at a time. The end result emanates a meditative feeling, inviting the viewer to look inwards.

This exhibition is an outcome of the Tweed Regional Gallery — National Art School Masters of Fine Art (Painting) Residency Award. The Partnership between the Gallery and NAS aims to showcase emerging artists in celebration of Margaret Olley’s legacy as a NAS alumna and a supporter of emerging artists.
