Explore the Museum’s exhibition Supertonic and enjoy a range of self-guided and hands-on activities.

About the exhibition

Supertonic explores the vibrant musical world of the Northern Rivers through recordings, scores, instruments, sounds, and stories of people creating music. Local bands and musicians have a strong connection to the place, drawing inspiration from the culture, landscape, and people of the area.

The Museum has collaborated with a large number of musos and featured musicians include Sunnyboys, Budjerah, JK47, Amy Shark, Tora, The Jezabels, Troy Cassar Daley and more.

About the activities

Supertonic Sequencer

Bust a move at our interactive installation and compose your very own live musical composition and visual display.

Your body movements will trigger sound bites prerecorded by local musicians to play and flora and fauna icons to dance on our digital screen, resulting in their very own musical score and live moving mural.

The Lounge Room

Drop in, hang out and spin some vinyl in our 1970s inspired lounge room.

Think mustard, burnt orange and deep chocolate…
Think soft velvet upholstery…
Think bold wallpaper…
Plus an evolving selection of vintage records for you to listen to.
