Details

Tweed Shire Council is committed to ensuring equal opportunities for people with a disability. Hire a FreeWheeler wheelchair for use on Tweed beaches.

A FreeWheeler is a wheelchair with soft balloon tyres that roll easily over sand and even into low waves.

Council has four beach wheelchairs available for use at the following locations:
Fingal Head Beach
Cabarita Beach
Tweed Heads
Pottsville

The Tweed Heads chair may be transported for use at any Tweed Coast beach.

The Fingal Head, Pottsville and Cabarita beach wheelchairs must be used in a specific area (they must not be removed from that area or transported elsewhere).

Chairs are free to hire. They can be borrowed by a support person for use by persons aged five and over with a disability.

The hirer is responsible for all transportation arrangements and payment of the refundable deposit for the chair. At the time of hire, the user/family member/care giver must read and agree to the terms of use, sign a lease agreement and provide identification. The terms of use are guidelines to ensure the person using the chair is kept safe at all times.
