This season visit the
Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre
This season, immerse yourself in bold expression and powerful storytelling at the Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre. Perched above the Tweed River with sweeping hinterland views, the Gallery offers the perfect seasonal escape, and a compelling reason to stay and explore the region’s creative landscape.
A major highlight of the 2025 Winter Program is the newly acquired Margaret Olley 2011 by acclaimed Australian artist Ben Quilty, the iconic Archibald Prize-winning portrait of one of Australia’s most beloved painters. On view in Painting Life: Margaret Olley and Works from the Collection, the portrait is accompanied by 11 new still lifes painted by Quilty in Olley’s honour, five rarely seen chalk and plaster sculptures, and works by artists who have drawn inspiration from her enduring legacy. The exhibition also features treasured still life paintings by Olley herself, alongside key works from private and national collections.
Beyond Painting Life, the Gallery’s winter program presents a diverse suite of exhibitions showcasing Australian contemporary practice and works from the Gallery’s growing collection. Wander through spaces filled with colour, texture and emotion, from landscape to abstraction, emerging talent to iconic names.
Whether you’re a returning admirer or visiting for the first time, Winter is the perfect season to slow down and savour the Gallery experience. Stay a little longer and uncover the region’s rich mix of culture, creativity and natural beauty.
Open Wednesday to Sunday, 10am–4pm. Free entry.
