AI, Actually.

From hype to helpful: what AI can really do for your business.

AI is moving faster than almost any technology shift we’ve experienced β€” but beyond the headlines, hype and seemingly endless stream of new tools, what does it actually mean for your business?

Join Business Murwillumbah for our September Networking Breakfast at APEX Dining, where we’re taking AI out of the abstract and putting it to work.

Meet Zak Atkins – Green Lattice AI

Tyalgum local Zak Atkins, founder of Green Lattice AI, builds and runs AI systems inside Australian small businesses β€” production systems that help handle accounts, inventory, inboxes, reporting and the everyday work that can eat into a business owner’s week.

Because Zak operates what he builds, he knows the difference between the AI tools that genuinely hold up in a real business and those that simply look impressive on stage.

And this morning, he’s going to show us.

Less PowerPoint. More Show Me.

Zak will start with a plain-English look at where Australia sits in the rapidly evolving global AI landscape, including what’s happening between the US and China and why it matters closer to home.

Then we’ll get practical β€” with live demonstrations of the AI tools and agents Zak uses every day.

You’ll see:

  • The AI agent that lives in Zak’s iMessage and works around the clock

  • Claude Code and OpenAI Codex in action, and how they compare with open-source tools such as Hermes

  • An AI agent navigating and operating a web browser much like a person would

  • Voice mode and simple dictation tools that can turn a spoken thought into a finished email

  • Where different AI tools can genuinely save time and make life easier β€” in your business and at home

And importantly, you’ll learn which tools you could realistically start experimenting with that very afternoon.

No coding background required. No need to understand the jargon. And no such thing as a silly question.

For many of us, AI feels a little like learning to use a computer all over again. This session is an opportunity to see what’s possible, ask the questions you’ve been wondering about, and get a practical understanding of where AI might fit into your own world.

From a shop on Main Street to a clinic, cafΓ©, farm or professional office, Zak’s focus is translating what’s happening in the world’s AI labs into what it actually means for businesses here in the Northern Rivers.

Whether you’re completely new to AI, already using it in your day-to-day work, or ready to explore what comes next, there’ll be something here for you.

As always, there’ll also be plenty of time to enjoy breakfast, connect with fellow business owners, exchange ideas and strengthen the relationships that make our local business community thrive.

Come curious. Leave with ideas you can actually use.

🎟 Book your place today β€” we’d love to see you there.
