This exhibition features the original artworks for Baabinje’s Backyard, a beautiful picture book for children illustrated by Bronwyn Bancroft and written by Ella Noah Bancroft, about a grandmother’s love for her garden, her Country and her family.
My Baabinje always had dirt under her fingernails.
She would take me out to the backyard and say, ‘Sit, Marli. Observe and connect with the day.’
From two brilliant Bundjalung women – acclaimed mother-daughter pair Bronwyn Bancroft and Ella Noah Bancroft – Baabinje’s Backyard showcases the distinctive work of Dr. Bronwyn Bancroft AM on the occasion of her 50th children’s book and celebrates her tremendous contribution to Australian and Aboriginal children’s literature.
