Details

This exhibition brings together a series of vibrant new textile and photographic works that reimagine the ephemera, icons, and images of the nation’s glittering Sunrise Strip

Drawing in part upon the immense Tweed Regional Museum Collection, postcards, souvenirs, and signs are refashioned into sequins and spandex. A party of costumed figures dis/appear beneath elaborate sculptural forms, relaxed in photographic worlds that conjure the distinctive visual landscape of coastal Australiana.

Sunburn: Gerwyn Davies is a love letter to Tweed and the borderlands—a declaration of deep affection for the lurid, the leisurely and the lowbrow.
