Details

Join Uki Refugee Project at the screening of Tatami, the first film made jointly by Israeli and Iranian directors.

Tatami follows Leila (Arienne Mandi), an Iranian judo champion who is put in political danger when her government tells her to fake an injury and withdraw from the world championships rather than face an Israeli rival. In a fight for freedom and dignity, what is she willing to give up?

Winner of an award at the Venice Film Festival 2023, Tatami has received positive reviews from film critics and audience worldwide. Co-directed by Iranian and Israeli filmmakers Guy Nattiv and Zar Amir, it is based on real-life events.

  • Sunday 9 August at the Citadel, Murwillumbah.

  • Doors open at 5, film starts at 6:00 pm

  • Tickets: $20 each

  • Food & drinks sold at the venue

NOTE: Vegetarian & meat curries will be available at $17 each. In order to facilitate catering we will ask you if you want a curry. Reply yes or no. You will pay for the curry at the Citadel, not to us.
