“The Sum of Us”

Murwillumbah Theatre Company’s exciting new production, the award-winning play “The Sum of Us” plays over two weekends at Murwillumbah Civic Centre Auditorium from Thurs 23rd July to Sun 2nd August.

“The Sum of Us” by David Stevens centres on Harry, a widowed father, and his gay son Jeff as they both search for love. Harry is openly supportive of Jeff’s sexuality but begins a relationship with a woman who struggles to accept Jeff’s identity.

The play explores themes of acceptance, family, and belonging and shows how relationships can falter due to societal attitudes and personal fears.

“The Sum of Us” will show for eight performances at Murwillumbah Civic Centre Auditorium over two weekends. Opening Night is Thurs July 23rd with a complimentary glass of bubbly from 6.30 pm.

Please be aware that this play will be performed as “theatre in the round” at floor level and not on the stage, giving the audience a more intimate view of the performance. Consequently, there will be no BYO, but food and drink will be available to purchase before curtain-up (doors open at 6.30 pm) and during the interval. A licensed bar will operate while the canteen will serve tea, coffee, cake and precooked meals.
