A popular and easy walk, this 1.2km return coastal walking track passes under dense vegetation to wooden stairs leading to the headland. Climbing the stairs to the headland you’ll find 180 degree views of The Tweed coastline, Cook Island Nature Reserve in the distance and the Fingal Head Lighthouse. The historic lighthouse was erected in 1872 with a height of approximately 7m. From the headland keep your eyes peeled for pods of dolphins, spotted eagle rays and passing humpback whales (June – October).

Unicorn Falls is a tranquil walking track through Mount Jerusalem National Park. This grade 3, 4.2km return hiking trail takes approximately 1-2 hours passing through vibrant sub-tropical rainforest. Crossing creeks under the canopy of tall eucalypt trees, the walking trail will lead you down stone stairs to Unicorn Falls, a tranquil swimming spot to cool off in.

Tucked in Border Ranges National Park, the Brindle Creek Walking Track winds through World Heritage-listed Gondwana Rainforest. This 6km one-way trail, with shorter loops, passes two waterfalls, Selva and Evans Falls. Towering canopies, ancient trees, and the creek’s gentle sounds create a shaded, soothing escape even on hot summer days.

Spanning 24km one-way, The Tweed section of the Northern Rivers Rail Trail is a popular, flat walking track with locals and visitors. Cross restored historic bridges, walk through 500m long railway tunnels and take in the lush landscapes of The Tweed’s hinterland. If you’ve got the day, explore the full 24km trail stopping into our hinterland villages for a bite to eat and a cold drink. Alternatively, take on smaller sections of the trail like Burringbar to Stokers Siding (7.1km) or Murwillumbah Railway Station to Tweed Regional Gallery (2.2km).

Best viewed at sunrise, Pinnacle Walk and Lookout in the Border Ranges National Park offers panoramic views of The Tweed’s hinterland. Just a short 0.6km return journey from the carpark through World-Heritage listed rainforest, this gentle walking trail opens up to a viewing platform with spectacular views over the caldera and out to Wollumbin Mount Warning.

One of the newest NSW Great Walks, the Gidjuum Gulganyi Walk is a 42km one-way, 4 day hiking trail through Mount Jerusalem National Park, Nightcap National Park and Whian Whian State Conservation Area. Meaning Old People’s Track, the walking track passes through the ancient traditional lands of the Widjabul Wia-bal and Minjungbal People of the Bundjalung Nation, who have lived in the area for thousands of years. The trail offers a diverse range of landscapes ranging from millenia old rainforest to native blue quandongs and stands of eucalypt trees, cool streams and creeks, stunning waterfalls and lookouts and the towering Wollumbin Mount Warning.
