The Tweed‘s coastal holiday village of Kingscliffhas been announced as a finalist in the NSW Top Tourism Towns Awards, with public voting open now through Sunday 4 May, 2025.

The annual New South Wales Tourism Industry Council awards program selects finalists across three categories – Top Tourism Town, Small Tourism Town and Tiny Tourism Town – with winners in each category across the state to be decided by public vote.

Finalists are selected based on a range of criteria, including provision of excellent visitor experiences and a strong commitment to sustainable tourism, as well as having a focus on local collaborations to maximise the visitor economy.

Kingscliff has long been a popular beach holiday destination and continues to evolve its profile as one of The Tweed’s key tourism destinations, recognised recently as one of Wotif’s Top 10 Australian Towns to visit in 2025.

Sally Scott, General Manager of The Tweed Tourism Company, said that Kingscliff was a worthy finalist in the Top Tourism Town category, with its laidback coastal vibe, variety of beach and nature adventures, welcoming local community and diverse food scene.

“We are thrilled that Kingscliff has been recognised as a finalist in the NSW Top Tourism Town Awards and encourage everyone, whether you’re a local or love to visit Kingscliff, to share your love of The Tweed and show it with a vote!”

“With the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation, Kingscliff is a holiday destination with something for everyone, from beach days and nature play to great food, local shops and creative fun, with a strong commitment to sustainable tourism growth in balance with the local community.”

“Our Top Tourism Town submission highlighted all the many reasons why Kingscliff is the ultimate beach spot for families, providing an easy long weekend getaway for visitors from Brisbane and south east Queensland and an ideal holiday hub with a diversity of experiences all within easy reach.”

Mayor of Tweed Shire, Chris Cherry said that the reason locals love The Tweed is the same for visitors – the unique combination of beaches alongside World Heritage rainforests and a strong sense of community.

“We love to share our home with visitors so that they can experience the wonderful natural beauty and the friendliness of our local businesses and communities. To be acknowledged as a top Tourism Town in NSW after winning three awards in the recent Australian Tourism Awards would be very special,” she said.

Ms Scott added, “We’re proud to be supporting the many Kingscliff businesses that contribute to the visitor experience across The Tweed and, while we already know it’s a top tourism town, we would love to make it official – jump online now to vote Kingscliff, NSW Top Tourism Town for 2025!”

Voting is open now and closes on Sunday 4 May, 2025.

Winners will be announced on Tuesday 27 May at the LGNSW Destination & Visitor Economy Conference which is being held in The Tweed and hosted by Tweed Shire Council.

Once the NSW Top Tourism Award winners are announced, they will go on to compete against Australia’s other States and Territories for the title of Australia’s Top Tourism Town.
