Date

Mon 02nd March 2026, 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM

Location

18 Heffron St
Tweed Heads South NSW 2486

Details

Council has drafted a new Single Use Materials and Packaging Policy, which will be on exhibition from 11 February to 25 March 2026. The policy outlines a staged approach to phasing out single‑use materials – plastic or otherwise – at places and events managed or supported by Council. Instead, activity hosts must provide washable alternatives or people must bring their own items.

The objectives of the policy are to:

  1. Avoid or reduce waste to landfill

  2. Reduce pollution in waterways and natural environments in the Tweed

  3. Increase use of reusable alternatives

  4. Minimise greenhouse gas emissions

  5. Encourage further community action to avoid waste

Join us to explore how these changes could work in practice, walk through real‑world case studies, and share your feedback.

Before attending, you can read the draft policy and implementation guide and other information available on our Your Say Tweed consultation page.

Ticket: Free of charge (tea, coffee and juice available)

Venue accessibility information: Accessible facilities for all guests.
