Sheep and goat essentials: health, parasites and practical skills – Stokers Siding
Details
A practical workshop on sheep & goat skills, covering key health, handling and husbandry challenges in the North Coast region and information on EID implementation.
Event details:
Are you a producer, breeder or proud owner of sheep and goats?
Join North Coast Local Land Services for a one-day free practical workshop designed to build confidence in managing common health and husbandry challenges faced by sheep and goat owners in the North Coast region.
The sheep and goat essentials workshop focuses on key issues such as biosecurity, animal identification and movement requirements, recognising signs of ill health, parasite management, foot health, toxic plants and predator risks.
Participants will explore best‑practice approaches to procedures such as handling, health checks, drenching, vaccinating, tagging and sample collection, with guidance on when veterinary or professional advice is needed. Content is tailored to the region and aimed at improving practical understanding of issues that are often difficult to learn remotely.
This workshop does not cover all aspects of sheep and goat ownership, but instead targets the more prevalent and challenging topics relevant to local conditions.
